Dear Friends,

This will be a shorter newsletter, partly because I want to get it out to you before Christian's surgery Friday and partly because I don't want to miss American Idol!

Christian has his surgery this Friday morning. I will be very grateful for your prayers that all will go well. I talked to the surgical nurse this morning and asked her if it would be possible for me to be present during the surgery. She assumed I was joking and said, "Of course not, you silly girl!" I was actually serious! I thought I could hold his hand the whole way through and close my eyes at opportune moments. When I told Christian that I had asked, he looked at me with that "bless your heart" look and said, "Mom, this is surgery!"

One of the verses in his devotional book this week is from 2 Chronicles. I receive it as a great promise to each one of us whose trust is in Christ alone.

"The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully
committed to him."

16:9

I think that's a fabulous promise. Imagine, God casts his eyes across the seven continents looking for those who are sold out to Him. Then His commitment to us is to give us strength. I don't know what you are facing at the moment but my prayer for you is that you would know the strength of the Lord. I love the lyrics to my sweet friend Sandi Patty's song "In The Name of the Lord":

Crowds Have Lined The Narrow Street
To See This Man From Galilee
Just A Carpenter Some Say Leading Fools Astray
Yet Many Kneel To Give Him Praise!

And In His Eyes They Glimpse The Power
That Sees The Heart Of All Men
And He Knows His Fathers Mind And He Speaks His Father's Words
For He Comes In The Name Of The Lord!

There Is Strength In The Name Of The Lord
There Is Power In The Name Of The Lord
There Is Hope In The Name Of The Lord
Blessed Is He Who Comes In The Name Of The Lord!

When My Plans Have Fallen Through
And When My Strength Is Nearly Gone
When There's Nothing Left To Do But Just Depend On You
And The Power Of Your Name!

And When We Call Upon Your Name
Your Strength Through Weakness To Show
We Can Know The Master's Plan Extend The Master's Hand
When We Come In The Name Of The Lord!

There Is Strength In The Name Of The Lord
There Is Power In The Name Of The Lord
There Is Hope In The Name Of The Lord
Blessed Is He Who Comes In The Name Of The Lord!

So that is my prayer for each one of us, that we will know the strength in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Many of you have been kind enough to ask when my mom's surgery date is. She is scheduled for June 19 for the removal of the tumor on her bladder. Thank you so much for your prayers on her behalf.

God bless and keep you this week.

With love,

Sheila

oh how we under estimate the HIS power and job! and how important we need to reflect HIM through it all...
